Spend a day of lazy pleasure as you head down to Surrey and visit one of the friendliest beach-side community in Vancouver. This is the Crescent Beach where you will find friendly locals and great seafood that are affordable in prices. Crescent Beach owes much of its success as a popular tourist attraction to its prime location as summer resorts for the New Westminster and Vancuver upper classes when the Great Northern Railway was connected from the beach to New Westminister in 1909. Beautiful sandy beaches, warm water and fairly dry weather offer a refugee place away from the hustle and bustle of city life. If you are going to spend the day here, watch out for a white boulder that sits on the beach. This is the White Rock and according to legend, the rock was tossed across the Strait of Georgia by the son of a sea god. For a better view of the boulder, walk along the promenade or the pier. The Semiahmoo Park further south of the beach is a good and quiet picnic spot and is but a short stroll from the pier. Take the Blackie's Spit trail as it is an easy trail and you will be rewarded by a view of the ocean and beach. If you are ambitious about crabbing then the Crescent Beach is the beach for you. Check for council regulations before you embark upon this quest.
